Co-op opportunities are more common, particularly within the area of compliance. Send us an inquiry ahead of time and we’ll see if we have an opportunity available that fits your schedule. The more specific you are about your areas of interest, the easier it is for us to find a match.
It’s designed for recent graduates with up to around 2 years of experience. The program serves as the launch pad for your career at FCG, where we equip you with the tools you’ll need to succeed as a consultant.
The program runs for the first six months of your employment, and you’re joined by around 10 others who are new to the industry. As an employee in the Associate Program, you’ll be assigned to a business area team from your first day on the job. The team, which consists of experts within your particular area and your immediate supervisor, is there to support your development.
FCG offers the following career track for consultants:
Associate –> Senior Associate –> Manager –> Senior Manager –> Director
Depending on your background and experience, you’ll start at the level that best suits your knowledge, skills, and abilities. In turn, each specific job title has three levels: New, Intermediate, and Experienced. How long you spend on each level is entirely up to you: the pace you’d like to progress at and when you prefer to take the next step. If, for example, you prefer to be a Manager, you’re more than welcome to remain a Manager. Our motto is “Be in a place where you can excel”, not “Move up or get out”.
This career track is just one of the many paths you can take at FCG. You can also specialize within an area or expand into sales, management, innovation, or other areas that interest you. We can reach agreement on this when you put together your annual career plan. Whether you’re ready to take the next step depends primarily on the extent to which you live up to our key values, serve as a role model, and display day-to-day leadership ability.
Aside from consultant positions, we also have opportunities within Operations & Portfolio Management at our fund management company, FCG Funds, as well as group functions within HR, Finance, Communications, and Office Management.
Regardless of the group or team they belong to, all employees are given the same opportunity for career development at FCG.
Since each client and project are unique, a big part of your skills development will come from the projects we work on - you really do learn something new every day! We advise clients and supply them with customized deliverables, which really broadens our skills, rather than work with out-of-the-box solutions and templates.
Moreover, we often work across teams and in this way promote knowledge sharing throughout the company. We bring one another up-to-date about current topics on an ongoing basis at our “Lunch & Learn” meetings and offer a wide range of training courses at any given time via our FCG Academy. The courses can cover anything from MiFID 2 and IFRS17 to project management to leadership to Excel to interview techniques.
Aside from the courses offered, you’re also given 40 hours per year that you can spend on personal skill development. Seminars, external courses, e-learning, reading at home - you plan the agenda. The choice is yours!
No, not with us at any rate. We believe that “It’s cool to work smart, not to work too much”. Nonetheless, we enjoy our jobs and are ambitious, so there are times when you’ll work a little bit more. We value a work-life balance and make sure that everyone has the chance to enjoy a reasonable amount of relaxation in various ways.
Depending on what type of person you are and how your life is structured, you can choose between working on a project-based team or an outsourced team. To put it simply, project-based assignments are shorter in duration and mega intensive once they’re underway while outsourced assignments stretch over a longer time period and allow you to work on a more regular schedule.
There are different models, i.e., salary-only or salary plus commission. We base it on what is suitable and what motivates you the best and pushes all the right buttons.
Compensation is an important factor for everyone. Aside from the remuneration, we also offer a generous benefit package. However, what we’re especially proud of is our environment and corporate culture. Our key values of “team spirit, humbleness, innovation, and commitment” are our number one priority, and we live according to the maxim that “You are the workplace environment for your co-worker”. No amount of money in the world can beat this.
Quite a few things come to mind here: everything from quiz nights, corporate sports leagues, Tough Viking and Vasalopp marathons, kitesurfing, exercise sessions at Humlegården, air hockey tournaments, inspiration seminars, FFN (Female Finance Network), evening get-togethers, Team Spirit breakfasts, and everything in-between.
Within the company, you can also actively take part in equal-opportunity, sustainability, and/or diversity initiatives. Other examples of activities you can participate in include serving as a student ambassador and holding lectures at universities. Innovation is of course one of our key values, and it’s clearly evident in all the ideas that are hatched and implemented here!
We always hire on the basis of values and skills, not on skin color, religious beliefs, or gender. In recruiting and hiring, we strive to obtain the right balance and mix of employees in order to promote diversity and attract employees whose skills are complementary. We’ve set a goal of 40% for the gender distribution of each seniority level, and at the management level we’ve already achieved this objective.
All employees are subject to the same conditions within the company (equal pay for equivalent positions and various initiatives to promote equal opportunity and other important issues, such as improved parental leave benefits) and at times we even need to tweak a job announcement in order to arrive at the balance we’re seeking.
Aside from the day-to-day initiatives, we also have the “JD Group”, which is focused on equal opportunity, diversity, and anti-discrimination. The group also includes a whistleblower function in case it’s needed.
